Steve McQueen Le Mans stolen in 2018 from a private house in Dallas, Texas, where it was on loan.

“The brightly colored McQueen painting in Armstrong’s ‘Cosmic X’ signature style is the only piece dedicated to a Hollywood character and is readily identifiable”, explains Joseph B. Sprung, founder of JBS Financial and CEO of Bear Givers.

The theft was discovered as arrangements were being made for a high-profile celebrity exhibition and also a permanent loan to the Private Event Gallery at Bear Givers Headquarters in New York. Bear Givers is an international non-profit group that promotes art to children in hospitals or with special needs.

International appeal launched into the successful recovery of these paintings.

Star Global International Inc. have launched a worldwide appeal for information that leads to the successful recovery of these valuable paintings.

Los Angeles Police Department took the lead and now Interpol, the FBI Art Crime Team, London’s Metropolitan Police Art and Antiques Unit, New York Police Department’s special frauds squad and a number of other law enforcement agencies worldwide have been contacted to investigate and increase the chances for the recovery of these works.

Unfortunately, the thieves responsible, will find it extremely difficult to sell these works, without drawing attention, because there are only 100 in total of these unique paintings. Each painting sold is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity issued by Star Global the artist’s DNA  is intrinsically interwoven throughout the fabric of each canvas.

It will be difficult for any buyer to display these works to visitors without it being recognized as stolen, thus defeating much of the point of owning the art.

We therefore urge any institution, member of the public or private collector/investor to come forward with any information.
